    Horrible fuel mileage

Here's a video of the engine idling, how does it sound to everyone else? I set the timing to 8* when I put the pump on after rebuilding the engine, I haven't checked it since but I can't see it moving at all.

    Keyless Remote Start

I have one installed in my truck, works just fine though I haven't done the high idle part yet, I was planning on using a door lock actuator on the throttle cable in the cab as the actuators are not really rated for high temperature or weather. I'm also throwing around the idea of making a...

    Rebuilt engine issuses

Is it as easy as measuring the bolt holes to the edge of the flywheel to see if it's off center? They should all be equal length to the edge from my understanding. I had the enine running and watched the flywheel and pressure plate spin and I didn't see and massive run out but it could be...

    R and d 3 inch downpipe

@typ4 would know more, it's been a few years since I got it from him but I think I remember something about more whistle and slightly better spooling with the ats housing.

    R and d 3 inch downpipe

I don't have r&d's kit but I did cut off and weld on a 3"v-band connection and I'm running a 3" down pipe to 4" back with muffler. I haven't been able to really try it out yet or get my gauges hooked up to see what egts and boost are but I do get a good amount of turbo whistle from it but that...

    Rebuilt engine issuses

The engine shop that rebuilt the engine was the one who assembled it and I can't see at this stage for them to be mixing up parts. I do understand anything is possible but I just don't see it happening. Thank you for the offer, at this point I don't know if I can even bolt a factory turbo...

    Rebuilt engine issuses

I'm hoping that if the flywheel is drilled wrong that either I can get it drilled right or if I get a new flywheel it will have the same balance as this one. This flywheel I have is a New Generation flywheel. Never heard of them and didn't know when I got it to check bolt hole spacing. I'll find...

    Project CrewCab

That I do not have, the injectors are new standadyne G code injectors from a very reputable shop in town, if changing flywheels and flexplates don't change anything then I mite pull the injectors and get them to test them.

    Project CrewCab

I'm hoping it's the clutch as that's the next easier piece to pull off and try, hoping either the pressure plate is balanced wrong or the flywheel is drilled off center, if not then I'll try the flexplate and see if it runs smooth then, if that doesn't fix it then out comes the engine for round...

    Rebuilt engine issuses

Well just to updated a thread that been hanging for a few years. Got the engine back with new bearings, new cam and head studs and the shop got three guys to double check the head gaskets before they put the heads on , they also rtv'd the oil pan on per my request. Put the engine into the truck...

    Project CrewCab

The shop did the initial balance with the flywheel as the flywheel was one for a factory turbo engine, after they got that balanced they put the flexplate on and balanced the flexplate to the rotating assembly, this is what I asked them to do and what he told me he did, now they did have to add...

    Project CrewCab

Small late update, got the brake lines done and the ABS working I don't like the pedal feel with the f-SD hydroboost and 1-5/16" mc so I'm going to put the 05+ SD hydroboost and 1-1/2" mc on and see if that improves the pedal. Just a note that you can not just bolt on the mc as the superduty...

    Horrible fuel mileage

Checked the brakes after a good drive and they all feel the same and are fairly cool (I'm running 05+ axles that have huge brakes so they don't warm up very fast) I was wondering if the break in would be part of this too, I was watching the exhaust this morning after starting it and it's...

    Horrible fuel mileage

I have the timing at 8*btdc @2000, idling has a good clack to it, if I push in the light load advance lever it gets very quiet, as for power it seems to have a ton more then the old 6.9, a test hill I use I can be in 5th at 70km/h and push the throttle down a bit and gain speed, the old 6.9 was...

    Horrible fuel mileage

I know the smell/eye burning your talking about, was about 30 ft away from a powerstroke one time and it was worse than standing if front of a campfire with the smoke going in your eyes. But no my truck doesn't smell bad or burn your eyes and I haven't been around enough people for them to...

    Horrible fuel mileage

So I finally got my new engine running and in my project truck and the fuel millage makes it undrivable, it's getting around 8 or less mpg and I don't know what's wrong. Some background info, rebuild 7.3lT with factory turbo with ats hot side housing, 3" dp to 4" back, na pump turned up 2...

    Brick nose speedo

The needles just pop off from the gauges, the back side of the needle is painted orange so you maybe able to remove the orange color and paint it to whatever your new color is. Make sure you have some way of marking the needles to put them back on, you can't just mark it on the face of the gauge...

    Brick nose speedo

Everything works on the Speedo including programmng it for new tire sizes and the odo/trip works too, very simple to hook up also, ground, ignition, battery constant and the 2 wires to the vss and the vss output to ecm/cruise works also. For the Speedo cable use a dry graphite lube to lube the...

    Radius Arm Bracket

Dorman makes a lot of replacement brackets for are trucks and they have been good fit and thickness (only thing good that Dorman makes). I drill the rivets out and enlarge the hole to 1/2" (minor diameter of a 1/2" bolt is 7/16" which is factory size rivets) use a washer on both sides of a...

    Body bushings?

I haven't driven it yet so I can't answer you on that one. I did put in 2016 superduty leafs in the rear and a 2005 coil sprung axle in the front to help improve the ride quality and turning radius and got bigger brakes out of the deal. As for using your impact on the puller, make sure you...

    Body bushings?

Those are Polly bushings and they came apart fairly easy with a short piece of pipe, part of a puller and all thread rod. The bolts come out easy so your impact won't be that handy.

    Body bushings?

Here's some pictures of mine when I changed them on the crewcab, the back drivers side was sitting on the frame before I started, now it's got a good inch or 2 of space and fixed the body line between the cab and box.

    Fuel level sending units

Here's a picture showing the resistive element you can try cleaning but in my experience they tend to have spots worn off of them like this one which causes it to do weird things. You could find the cheapest gasser unit and just swap the circuit board to fix your sender, just one wire to solder...
