Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Decided to keep the mech oil sender tube plugged into the factory sender location because I already had the hardware to do it.. So, does anyone know if these two oil ports under the cooler are both pressurized, or if one of them is a return? Since I still have the engine on the stand, it will be...

    Need ideas on oil cooler

Aviation Gasket Sealer by Permatex! Oh, THAT elephant snot... Yeah, I figured since I found it in about 30 seconds with the others I described previously. I guess my point is that I had to stop and search for something that is a slang term, known to some but unknown to most others. Many times...

    Need ideas on oil cooler

Elephant Snot, huh? Good thing we have a zoo right across the river because I have to do this also, tomorrow. Does the elephant have to have a cold or do they make snot all of the time? Our elephants stay pretty healthy, so I hope it's not a problem.. Oh wait, do you mean Elephant Snot® the...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Thank you, I think that since I did so much work on my wife's old Honda Accord, I now have an almost phobic dislike for clutter under the hood- stay tuned because when the engine goes back in I'll be using the opportunity to streamline and de-clutter as much as I can.

Consensus on 6.9 Head gaskets in 7.3?

If I may make a suggestion (since I just did this the other day) don't drill- punch. Drilling is going to leave filings in your heads and block, if you sharpen a 3/16" or 1/4" dia. steel rod or center punch and use that, it makes a nice hole and leaves no metal bits to contaminate your coolant...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Thanks, man.. The intake was initially washed with mineral spirits to get as much crud as possible off of it, then blasted in my homemade Redneck Approved Visqueen & plate glass blast cabi- er, area. Then it was sprayed with high temp silver & high temp clear gloss, compliments of the NAPA...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Tom, thank you, and that won't be a problem as both turbos are being mounted under the cab.

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Wow, this is taking forever.. So I am making a very tardy update. When I got the block back from the machine shop with 8 shiny new sleeves in it, it sat hermetically sealed in plastic wrap for 2-1/2 months while I again saved up money for fresh lifters and piston rings. Those were the last of...

    Lift question

LOL! The look on her face says "Really? Why do I do this stuff for you?" It looks like LCAM-01XA may have been off a little, I don't think she'd go a buck ten soakin wet.. ;Sweet

    Glow Plug Connector Rebuild

Yes, how good was the fit? The OE pieces have a split ring kind of deal that has to expand a little to fit over the bullet for good contact and staying put. Do these connectors have a good friction fit?

    Building a 6.9 to kill

Any revivification was unintentional- I was searching for something else entirely when I stumbled across idiabuse's response to the rotary valve system I had provided a link to..

    Building a 6.9 to kill

That was sarcasm, right? I mean it had to be since this is the about the best possible valve design ever conceived..

Stock Alternator not sufficiant for my ride do I need a high output?

Whoops! just realized I wasn't in the idi section.. Nevermind.

Stock Alternator not sufficiant for my ride do I need a high output?

A Ford 3G 200A drops right in and is internally regulated to boot.. Best electrical choice I've made for a while. Plenty of threads on installs here, just search a little. Also- go oversize on the positive wire from the back of the alt to the solenoid and use a dab of NOALOX on all of the...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Yes- and speaking of that.. When I start to re-assemble, is there anything in the way of prep work I should do to the raw edges of the new holes I have to make in the head gaskets for the improved cooling? (removing those plugs) Like a thin film of high temp RTV or Permatex copper spray? I...

    injector knock after turbo install?

Sounds like one of those re-man'd injectors is popping early (knock) and one or more of them is popping late (white smoke). Did you have them pop-matched? At idle crack injector lines one at a time to find the culprit(s). That being said, I don't know why the symptoms wouldn't have shown up...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Well, it's been quite a while since I gave an update on the progress.. I rented a hoist from a local place and pulled the engine, only needed to pull out my pretty new radiator, the front clip stayed in place and presented no problems. PS pump, A/C comp and vacuum pump were pulled out of the way...

    445, 444, or 436??

Yes sir, I see that now.. Gotta admit that I'm pretty disappointed with Haynes. It makes me wonder what else may be in error. You wouldn't be interested in selling the more dog eared & dirty of those CGES435-1's, would you?? :D

    445, 444, or 436??

:D That .040" travels with the stroke so it doesn't count, nice try- you made me think about it for a second! ;)

    445, 444, or 436??

No, those are 7.3 specs, they're just wrong.. Straight out of Haynes.

    445, 444, or 436??

    Interesting, I don't think I've seen that one before.. Lets try it then- 4.11 x 4.11 x 4.11 x 8 x .7854 = 436.22078. Close enough for government work...:D
