Depends on the inspector is all. I take the wife's car to one garage because I know he looks at everything but I've had my truck "inspected" with out it ever driving to the shop. Just handed him the papers and walked out with my new sticker because he knows that I know what's legal and safe...
I've had 10k behind my truck with no trailer brakes a few times. Drive slow, leave lots of distance and pray no one pulls out in front of you and hope the DOT isn't out.

As a guy that has taken a pillars out of all 3 style trucks, they in fact are not the same from 83-94. But on an 89 you might get away with cutting the ends off a newer style and fastening it to your pillars

True. I need a 1/4 clamp. Mine up and ran off over a year ago now and I have had no luck in finding a new or a used one anywhere online.

Id be interested in the bell housing. Or if you'd want to stay original I have a t18 and small block bell I'd trade with a couple bucks your way also.

Who has ever had a bad oil squiter and if one did get damaged would you have far worse problems? Just curious why they would need to be saved so badly

That transmission is out of an f super duty (f450) and is identical to a 4x4. All you'd have to do is unbolt and rebolt a transfer case.
If you'd want to keep it a 2 wheel drive then you might have to cut your driveshaft a little bit. And I'm pretty sure those have their own oil system, like a...
Everyone that complains to me about them, I just shrug my shoulders and reply with "I've never broke one". That normally ends a conversation. Now I'm not saying the don't have their own faults, but they are strong when used within their realms.
My bronco has a mutt of a ttb front end. D44...
There's one near where I work. I was looking it all over one day in a parking lot. Cc sb power stroke with a 5 speed. Sharp truck, I always thought it'd be neat to put a step side on one, just look neat.

Factory or not, if this thing was within 5 hours from me I'd be on my way. I bet you could get it for 7-800. That'd be a sweet trailer queen truck with a turbo 7.3.
