You definitely have 3:55 gears.
My truck use to be a 6.9 N/A with the same transmission and gears.
I have towed 10k worth of trailer with that setup a few times and I remember clearly how second gear would lug to about nothing before it finally would drop into first on a long hill. When it...
^^ what hims said. Can you visibly see a fuel leak under the hood, particularly around an injector? IMO the return systems on an Idi is the weakest point on these trucks, but it is a simple enough fix

He's not really asking a psd technical question... Kinda a mix of Idi and stroke but the swap section might give him some good indication on what will work

It wouldn't fire trying to use bad plug, it will fire if you leave them installed (disconnected) and give it a shot of nose candy.

I bet the pump is gummed/rusted up. He said it has sat for 15 years. He might get away with pulling the top, filling it and the inlet line with ATF and leaving it sit like that a week. I'd recommend trying a different injection pump OR removing and having a shop clean it. I had one truck that...
I feel your a little too worried about the fuel honestly. Old diesel will still run just fine as long as it doesn't have algae in it. If you get black slime/ chunks then I'd drain the tanks

The passenger side motor mount is the different one on a van.
The header and manifold are different however. They both slant toward the back of the van unlike the truck that both point straight down.
The medium duty idis have the van style headers also if I remember correctly.

Well I found a new one today. After spending 2 hours chasing a HUGE oil leak (6 quarts in 70 miles) I finally found it.
I was convinced it was my oil return from the hypermax turbo leaking. It has done that to me before and since the oil was from the passenger side around the starter it made...
Hmmmm. Probably doable with enough pre heating. The only thing I can recommend is make sure it's clean clean clean, but I'm sure you've figured that out through the years also. I'd like to think the CAV rotary injection pump on a Perkins is a little stronger than a Stanadyne rotary pump.
The...
Looks like the smaller version of one I used on semi universals. It was always slick, couple hits with an impact and the caps would fall out.

If he doesn't want them than I do. Newest truck came with core support removed. Now that the minor rust is fixed I've been trying to figure out what to do for bushings. Factory would be nice but i am not above hockey pucks and shims.

I'd find some hose, if possible and bypass the selector valve. Both return and supply.
If it's the culprit it might return fuel to one tank and suck form another.
I have actually ran my truck with a 5 gallon bucket on the passenger floor board with the supply and return to it, but for that...
Yes same fuel pump for both. My old electric pump I had set to 14 psi just to help get oil through the filter. Now I run a 6 psi pump and the truck runs much better.
