Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

L I know it's not really needed when running, bit it's nice not having to worry about dropping stuff in there.

Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

That's the one! Oof, $60 each. If I could figure out how to get the mesh back in the outer ring, I could repair mine.

Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

A couple of my engines have damaged mesh intake guards. They've gotten caught on the air filter housing as I removed it, and the mesh has started to come out of the outer ring. Do we have a Ford or Navistar part number, or a source besides the junkyard?

What are IDIs REALLY selling for?

I've got a daughter looking to buy a $10k vehicle in the lower 48 and drive it back to Alaska. She's really not mechanical, so it needs to be solid. Whatcha got that could work, and where is it?

Now you're getting on track! Just don't use tempera paint.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

He's asking how to do a half-azzed job. I suggest getting some tractor enamel, brushing it on, and calling it good. Use black or a contrasting color to avoid matching. Clean the rust down to bare metal first, of course.

    New Mechanical Lift Pump...

Here's their reply: That sounds a lot like "Hecho en China," but maybe with some quality control?

    New Mechanical Lift Pump...

I used the contact form on the website, asked Pure Diesel Power where that pump is made. If they respond, I'll let y'all know.

    Source for primer pumps?

I would love to have a hand primer pump like on my Mercedes. Anybody got a line on something like that?

Does anyone have a video of installing a Banks Sidewinder?

It all fits! I got it mounted on the engine, and it looks as if it runs around the adapter plate, shouldn't interfere with the transmission at all. I haven't taken the engine off the stand and mated it to a transmission yet, but I think it's going to be OK, as long as the tranny isn't wider than...

    Cheap diesel fuel ok?

Gas is a blend of volatiles, and a spark ignition engine requires gas _be_ volatile, and as they evaporate, they leave behind gum and varnish. When gas gets old, it gets bad. Diesel is oil. It shouldn't have volatiles, There isn't much to evaporate, and your fuel system is sealed anyway. When it...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Take some pics as you go, and post'em up here, please. I suppose if this fits on the truck frame, you could turn the old trailer into a pickup bed trailer, to boot!

So what did you do with your truck today?

@farmerrock, seems like one of those old dot-mil trailer bodies would make a great pickup bed.

Does anyone have a video of installing a Banks Sidewinder?

Looks like I have the earlier model, then. Just gonna have to bolt up a tranny to the block and see what fits, I guess.

Does anyone have a video of installing a Banks Sidewinder?

I'm not sure there's a pedestal for this? I've attached the manual I found on Banks' site: on page 4, Item 27 is the cast iron up pipe, which has the finger I think is supposed to go where the chunk gets cut out of the transmission. From my first reading of the instructions, that is what fixes...

Does anyone have a video of installing a Banks Sidewinder?

I've dug a wastegated sidewinder out of my parts pile, and it looks to be complete, with all the exhaust and intake plumbing. I'll have Russ Repair rebuild and upgrade the turbo, and then it's ready to install...but the installation manual has me cutting pieces off the transmission housing! Is...

Blew a head gasket, what parts am I gonna need?

I've towed some pretty big stuff with this, and never had a cooling issue. We don't have a lot of hot days up here. I'd like to do that cooling mod anyway, but I'd need a hi-res photo with circles and arrows to point the way. I bet there's photos on here, but I haven't found'em yet. My eventual...

Blew a head gasket, what parts am I gonna need?

This is my daily driver and I kinda need it running, so I really am in a hurry. The machine shop can't do anything more than put the heads on a belt sander to clean'em up, so if they're significantly warped, he can't do much. I guess he'd need a surface grinder to actually flatten them...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Blew the head gasket on my '89 crew cab last Tuesday. Figured it out when I got to work, and saw clouds of steam when I parked. Opened the hood, could see it spouting antifreeze mist out the front of the engine, passenger side. There was quite a bit of pressure in the radiator, it's was bubbling...

Blew a head gasket, what parts am I gonna need?

I figure I need intake gasket/valley pan, valve cover and of course head gaskets. What am I missing? I need to get this into and out of the shop quickly so I don't want to get hung up waiting for parts in the middle of it. It's my '89 crew cab, everything is stock far as I know.
