    2017 Oilburners Rally

Well, chris's is together and technically I haven't begun to tear mine apart yet, lol! I'm trying to have the new engine and axle all ready to swap in before I pull mine apart.

I know Chris and I are still in. I think Matt is talking like he may not be able to make it now, but it's still up in the air for him.

It's a little hard to read on the exhaust side. I guess I'll just have to ask mel when I get to that point, haha!

    project: watch out Kentuckians

For some reason I was thinking the turbo came from mel with a 1.15 exhaust housing, but if its a .72 I think that would be even better for quicker spool. I already bought the upgrade kit from mel so I could upgrade later, but I may do it while I'm doing the rest of the engine. Decisions...

Ok, well keep us posted on how you like it. I am pretty sure I'm going to get Mel's moose boost turbo as well, but it all depends how funds end up with my engine build.

Elijah do you know what a/r the exhaust housing on your moose boost turbo is? I'm curious to see how yours runs and spools before I decide what route to go with mine, haha!

Elijah, hypermax has a special tranny dipstick tube for their systems. If you can't modify yours you could just buy the one that fits.

Redo 7.3IDIT heads or drill out 6.9 heads

Well I haven't fully decided yet. It's a 7.3idit I had bought to reseal, stud, and put in my 86. I'm really trying to figure out what I want to do since if I need to have a set of heads redone it will use up the funds i was hoping to use to buy Mel's moose boost turbo. I may be getting Corey's...

Redo 7.3IDIT heads or drill out 6.9 heads

So I've hit a dilemma tonight. I had bought a 7.3 IDIT engine that I was going to regasket and stud for in my truck. The problem is I got a chance to pull the heads finally and the guides are a little sloppy. So I'm on a bit of a budget, but I want it to be right as well. So my question is do I...

factory turbo piston vendor? In existence?

I was coming up with a bunch under $100 too. Are they calling them a "set" if they come with rings, or is that a set of 8? It just sounds way too cheap for a set of 8, but I could be wrong.

factory turbo piston vendor? In existence?

I saw Hypermax lists "factory turbo idi performance pistons" I want to call about them and ask what makes them better. They are quite expensive though, but if they are indeed stronger it might be worth the extra dough.

    Hydroboost mc??

Or you could just buy a pressure switch to stick in that port and just not connect it to anything.

the "unicorn" a Saginaw P/S pump system with brackets from a E-series van.

I think AGR makes a Saginaw pump kit that fits in the stock truck brackets.

2017 Rally Route / Convoy thread (east coasters)

The only thing I saw different in your Google map was i think Elijah was talking about coming down 84 to 81. Honestly whichever way he wants to come down to our meet up at lickdale doesn't matter to me. Exit 90 off of 81 is only 1 mile from the 81/78 split.

2017 Rally Route / Convoy thread (east coasters)

Ok so correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read back through in the posts Elijah and Tyler are meeting at 131 Brainard Rd, Hartford, CT and are taking I-84 over to I-81S where they will continue down till they meet up with Chris, his gf Miranda, and I at 22 Old Forge Rd, Jonestown, PA...

2017 Rally Route / Convoy thread (east coasters)

I'm going to try to layout a route from my place to where we are meeting up in Morgantown WV to the rally itself tomorrow. I thought maybe you could add from your place to where we meet up Elijah so that if anyone wants to join in on the convoy they will have a rough idea of our path.

    project: watch out Kentuckians

From what I've found the gaskets are the same except the holes in the corners. We used a 6.9 head gasket since it had the rubber grommets in the corners where we opened up the passages. Our though was that would seal better than drilling a hole through a 7.3 gasket.

I'm fine with running 65-70mph. Chris and I will be running bob tail so that is no problem with us.

I've always loved the motorcraft rtv they sell in a small calking tube. It works very well. We just did my friend Jon's truck with 6.9 head gaskets on his 7.3 and punched out the corner plugs. We are working on putting it in now so we'll see how well it works soon.
