    New engine, No power

Of course get the timing as close as you can.

    New engine, No power

Do you have an EGT gauge? I’d check for exhaust leaks, boost leaks, and fuel flow (volume). EGTs would give you an idea of this. If EGTs are low you may need more fuel.

    7.3 running hot

I added a powerstroke style bumper to my 93. The cut outs in the bumper moved a lot of air across the bottom portion of the radiator.

E4OD woes.. (torque converter shudder?, and then some.. )

If your injector hangs open on compression stroke (heat) is pushing up to the caps and ip lines.

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

I don’t think you should pull the glow plugs for a leak down test. That a lot of removing and installing.

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

No. It says turn it over by hand. You also have to stop at the timing damper mark. I doubt you’ll do that turning the key.

    What lube?

It does do more than clean. It does run cooler.

    What lube?

The best cleaner I’ve ever put in a differential is full synthetic lube. I used Royal Purple in one truck and when I went to buy it for second truck it had almost doubled. I used Walmart tech brand synthetic Instead. As far as I’m concerned it’s Royal Purple without the dye. I’ve been very...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

This is from FTE. The timing mark is found on a little plate that is on the front of the engine on the passenger side. The plate is mounted so it is very close to the main pulley on the lower front of the engine which is mounted on the vibration damper. On the side of the vibration damper, is a...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

Use a socket on crankshaft bolt in the middle of the harmonic balancer.

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

Cylinder Leak Testing The ALLDATA Tech-Assist Team If you have done a cranking compression test and have identified one or more cylinders that are much lower than the rest, you can do another test to find out the cause. It’s called a cylinder leak-down test. A leak-down test can tell you if the...

    86 F-250 2WD Rear Brakes

You should have a Sterling 10.25. Look on you tube for brake job on this axle. Shouldn’t need a big socket.

How to know if engine is hydro locked?

If there is water in the cylinders you need to get it out before your block in unusable.
  15. gnathv

How to know if engine is hydro locked?

You won’t know until you try to turn it over by hand with glow plugs out. If it will turn over you may be able to repair without rebuild. If it won’t turn over you’re in for a tear down and new parts if block is good.

You can remove your glow plugs and turn it over by hand.

    Kansas killed my 7.3 n/a

When you’re saying you hope it’s seating better, did you clean the copper washer or replace the copper washer?

    Kansas killed my 7.3 n/a

Was there a copper washer on the injector or in the injector bore?

So what did you do with your truck today?

The hydraulic fluid in my zero turn and walk behind mowers is 20/50 motor oil. The systems requirements vary tremendously.

So what did you do with your truck today?

If you decide to use power steering fluid, make sure you get the right one for the system it’s going in.

Starting issues after solenoid relay replaced

I got an old one from junk yard lol it was better than the new parts they make today. If you can trace the small wire from fender relay to switch on column, jump 12v to that end and see if it starts. (a volt meter would help).

Starting issues after solenoid relay replaced

I replaced my ignition switch (on column) and it wouldn’t start unless I manually pushed pin a little further, when I took it back to auto parts store they weren’t surprised. Could still be “new” switch. It was Borg Warner.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I’ve always used ATF in ford power steering. I have hydro boost, stock cooler and use Valvoline Max Life (it’s synthetic) my brakes and steering work as they should, no fade or stiff steering.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Change your fluid. Just looked up Oreilly brand fluid, flashpoint 280 degrees. Preston flashpoint 399 degrees. It’s probably overheated and breaking down viscosity.

So what did you do with your truck today?

The fluid may be your problem. Try ATF and see if it improves.
