If you mix r134 components with r12 components, most likely you’ll have to make custom hoses to overcome the thread differences in the two. If your going to use newer r134 evaporator you’ll need the same year hose set and condenser.
I would get the dorman 300-700 and compare it to yours. When you look at the vacuum pumps for the different years the difference seems to be the nipple orientation of the pump. i put a 1996 pump on my 1993 when I had it and the difference was the 93 mounting holes were smooth and the 96 were...
93 was r12, 94 was r134. They used the same compressor but different thread sizes on the lines. Look at the hoses to make sure fittings are compatible with your 86 evaporator and condenser. I think 93 lines should be the right fitting.
You need to figure out what transmission you have. 89 is a one year. From there 90-91, 92-94,95-98, with 96 being another odd year. You should be able to use the one you have if it’s diesel by putting in correct solinoid pack.

If oil cooler was leaking I don’t think you would hear a leak being it is mounted so low and would mix with oil in the cooler. I think low air pressure in glow plug holes would tell you your cylinders condition as far as cavitation. Test each cylinder at top dead center and bottom dead center...
