Well I have been running the fuge pretty constant since the 28th post. Cleaning two times a day. morning and evening. I am getting less and less. I think if tomorrow morning comes back with less it will be time to call it good. This batch would have gotten about 5 or 6 days(~120hrs) of...
Cool idea. I saw a guy swap in a 4-53 into mid 2000s ford on youtube. It was pretty slick. He got the automatic transmission to work with it too. It would be cool to see if it fits.
Well after letting it run for about 24 hrs I cleaned it and found that the bowl had almost filled completely with sludge. It slumped when I shut it down to clean so it did not make for a good picture. I am thinking that a little slower might not be a bad thing? At 15gph it should take 18-19hrs...
So hopefully you guys judge me fairly lol
I cobbled this together with stuff I had squirreled away.

Little 12v fuel pump facet posi-flo efp-3. A friend suggested getting a old laptop/monitor power supply. We have a great little surplus electronic store (surplus gizmo) that all...
Hey kbenz, any updates? I just found a big torque converter on the side of the highway and snagged it up. Thinking I might copy your endeavor. I will take your advise and cut it with a lathe and reweld. I need a second fuge lol!
I think have had good track records. I have yet to try my 55gph out. I think the benefit of bigger is you might be able to process the oil faster. Also the smaller one might need to be cleaned more often. Looking at mine it does not have much sludge capacity. Or at least not what I am used to...
Yah that would be a good idea. I built this a few years ago to do small batches. A buddy asked for me to fuge some oil so they could put it back in a dump truck that leaked really bad. It was worn out and only used it around the farm. It would be easy to add a overflow return. I think the best...
I didn't think of that. I was running a compressor to do the testing with my pneumatic diaphragm pump so it would be similar. That is a good idea. I don't have one, but I will keep an eye out for one. I was thinking of adding a bypass valve and having some volume dump back into the clean...
Yah me neither but buddy was helping and we fussed with it for a while then he was like hey jump and tap the starter. Boom easy after that. I also cut the metal inner finder to allow good access. The plastic hides it when it's all back installed.
Pump/fuge one last time as I transferred to my second clean tote. Got even less in the fuge, about 2.7hrs to transfer about 250ish gallons. Puts me in the realm of 90gph. Little higher then I was figuring. Still looks pretty good. I am finding that I need a more controllable pump. Probably try...
Oh that was the third time running the set up. Previous runs pulled out more. Each time seemed to decrease the amount being pulled out.
Think that is a good sign
Ran the recirculating setup for 8hrs yesterday. And this is all it pulled out. So I think it is decreasing. I will fuge it into my other clean tote and see how much it gets out.
I wonder how well the tote is mixing? I kinda want to try it with a 55 gal and see if mixing it up would be better...
So been testing out the recirculating method. Seems to still be pulling out sludge. I rigged up a smaller pump that is doing about 75gph. I can't get it to run slower haha. Did about 3 hrs yesterday and doing another few today. Seems to be running happily. It is flowing fast enough to cause a...
Yah it kinda sounds like a lift pump. I am not sure. But it's pretty cheap to start. The likely hood to having something plugging the pickup tube is slight with pump fuel. Prefilter is good to check. Good to check. Cummins dealer can look up your engine serial number and list off all the parts...
Curious. Digital gauge with sender or wetline mechanical? Did you loose power when you saw the fluctuations? Does it stay acting weird till you shut off the truck and the back on? Seems like it could be some partially blocking the pickup tube. Not sure what vehicle you have the 12valve in or...
So I got a question the for those that continuous flow centrifuger out there. I just set my single pass centrifuge up so I could use it as continuous with a pump. First pass is from my dirty tote to a clean tote. Second pass is the recirculated from the bottoms of the clean tote through my fuge...
Yah crazy to think they want to try to actually do it without any infrastructure or high number of vehicles that can the higher percentage of alternative fuels. I wonder how the dog/def systems handle the biofuels?
The black carbon is hard to get out. Sub micron from what some people have said. I run my fuge around 2-3 gph and it doesn't get the black out. Though mine only spins at 3450rpm. If the sludge you getting in the bowl is black then your getting some of it out. Might need to multiple runs?
Great...
Never really want to suck completely off the bottom or completely empty. I have found that even after centrifuging I have some fines settle out, which means I probably need to run another few rounds of centrifuging. Also good idea have prevision for eventual cleaning. Maybe over time build up or...
Yah I wanted to buy a conical tank because it would collect all the sludge and water nicely to one point. Then all that would need to be done is drain the bad stuff off before starting up. No real need for a elevated pickup. But totes are what I have and get for cheap so this is the route I...
So ran it till it stopped flowing out of the dirty tote. Looks like it is about 75 gal left in 5ge dirty tote. So next version will probably be shorter and target around 50gal remaining. Since that is only about 6.6 inches from the bottom. I want to upgrade to a 330gallong tote too.
