Holley red is on it's way :D. I put her to work today hauling gravel for our green house. I'm finally able to get some stuff done! She's running great!
I checked the timing today. Funny how steady the timing mark is when you're getting steady fuel pressure haha. It was right at 8.5 so I left it. I'm considering installing a Holley red.. It sounds like they don't have the issues the Facet does , and I like the idea of being able to toss a...
I didn't even think of that. I do still have it and it worked great for the brief run time before I pulled it. It wasn't rusty like the rest. I should have just tossed that one on.
That's good to know Russ. I was in a bind so I had to toss it on and give it a whirl. I will replace it asap with an OEM one or possibly go e-fuel if I can find a pump that will actually meet the needs and not break the bank. The fuel pressure is now steady! It still has a rough idle , thinking...
Well I am pretty pissed. I ordered a carter pump from rockauto and they sent me a f'ing airtex. The pump itself has the carter PN as does the box ,so apparently carter pumps are now made by airtex? If I wanted an airtex pump I would have picked one up locally with a lifetime warranty! They won't...
It seems you are right. I put a clear line on the IP return and pressurized it again. Nothing came out. So I started it and fuel immediately started flowing out. So I guess that whole thought was a waste of time lol. I have a new lift pump arriving tomorrow. Hopefully that fixes the erratic fuel...
I had clear lines on the supply side while I was sorting out the air intrusion issue. I haven't put one on the top of the pump return. I'll do that next. But nothing is getting passed the IP. It just holds pressure. I noticed with it running the clear line before lift pump looked like the fuel...
Thinking out loud... The fuel goes in the filter head , through the filter and in to the nose of the IP. Excess fuel flows out the top of the IP and through the return lines.. A blockage in the return lines would cause leaks and possibly return hoses popping off.. It doesn't leak at all..The...
I hooked up an electric pump today to see how it would run. It wouldn't push fuel no matter what I did. So I unhooked it and it pumped fuel just fine off the truck. So I thought there must be a blockage somewhere.. So I pressurized the fuel inlet On the filter head to 10psi and it just held...
It's been years so I don't remember exactly other than it being easy haha. I believe I found the sender singal terminals at the FSV plug and ran wires straight to the back of the switch. IIRC it only took some wire and a few spade connectors.
I used (2) 3-way valves so that I could pull from and return to any tank I wanted. I also kept the factory switch for the gauges . It was super simple to eliminate the fsv and keep the switch.
I'm pretty sure it is doing exactly that. When I timed it I had a hard time getting the timing accurate because the balancer mark was jumping around ( Tech Time with light ) . I planned on re-timing it once I got it to run better. That would definitely make sense. Erratic fuel pressure - erratic...
I thought there was a check valve that helped keep the pressure more consistent? I totally forgot to check it while running haha. It started pouring and I was hurrying up to get everything put up.
Still trying to figure out the running rough issue. I played with some stuff today. Should the fuel pressure at the schrader be consistent or pulsing? It seems to drop pretty low between pulses.
I did this conversion on my 94 years ago. I couldn't find my thread but here is one with a similar setup. Mine had an e4od so I mounted mine on the trans tunnel.
