It is not a good idea to have both the mechanical lift pump and an electric pump. If the diaphragm in the lift pump goes bad the electric pump will pump diesel straight in to the crank case . This can ruin an engine before you even know something is wrong. If you want to use the electric pump...

You could swing by auto zone and have them test it. That way you can eliminate it being an electrical issue on the truck before you buy a new one.

Has anyone tried this intake hat?

I assumed it was aluminum but honestly didn't even think about it. I'll look at it tomorrow. It has a 3/4" nipple on the back side that you can't see that could be used for a crank case vent.

Ya it should be 13.5 - 14. Mine is barely charging and I'm getting 13.2.

Has anyone tried this intake hat?

Ok , so everything came today. I ordered a 2" spacer for like $4 because I knew the hat would not clear the hard lines. It's plastic and will be replaced with an aluminum one, but I wanted to see how it fit before spending the money. Everything fits surprisingly well. The bolt hole had to be...

Has anyone tried this intake hat?

I decided to give it a try. Should be here Friday or Saturday. I'm sure the quality sucks and the air filter is likely junk, but I'm mainly interested in the hat. It should free up a lot of room and eliminate the rain water issue.

    Torque wrench suggestions?

I have an old HF torque wrench that has been left outside, spring compressed , and beat on using it as a breaker bar for years. I just recently compared the torque to my digital torque wrench and it was surprisingly only a couple lbs off. Also, the last time I was in HF they said all their hand...

    Scored this today...

Wow, what a huge blessing.. I tore in to it today to re torque the heads. I got the alternator off and noticed the coolant hose clamp wasn't tight. The part of the head I thought was leaking is directly below. So I hurried up and threw it back together, started it and let it warm up..NO LEAK...

    Spectra radiator lasted 6 months

I'm sure they are all the same so the parts guy that I spoke to must have just not known. Good to know, thanks.

    Spectra radiator lasted 6 months

When I was looking for a replacement steering box I found this out. AutoZone and O'Reilly said it's a one time replacement. After the first exchange you get the basic 90 day warranty, that's it. The only place that actually had a lifetime , unlimited exchange warranty was Napa.

    7.3 IDI parts

Sadly I have to wait until our other little doggies pass before getting a large breed. We have two 10lb Chihuahua mixes and one 5lb one. My wife is afraid it will accidentally hurt them.

    Scored this today...

I had the heads checked out so it would definitely be an issue on the block side. Unfortunately I do not have the time, money, or desire to pull it and have it machined right now. So it will have to sit or go to a new home. I am going to try bumping the torque from 100 to 110 and see if it...

It should fit. I thought about giving it a try since Russ doesn't have any of his ready to sell. Unfortunately I just found out I won't be needing one ..lol.

    Scored this today...

Well this evening was interesting... I finally tried to take the truck for a test drive today.. Brakes were soft but I drove it any way. I live on the side of a mountain and my driveway is STEEP so I put it in low and creeped down. Got back, thought everything was gravy.. until I noticed a leak...

Factory turbo. I knew what I wanted, but let them explain to me what they thought it needed. We agreed so they timed it. That sucks if things have changed. They were a great shop.

I've only been to the one that was in Medford before they packed up and moved to their bigger shop in Eugene (?). They were very familiar with these IDI's. They timed my truck at 9* I think, it's been awhile. Whatever it was I remember was dead on what was recommended on here, and it was the...
