    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

No, and I won't, unless they fail some test. I don't just throw parts at something. I have a full set to replace them with, BTW - but if they don't go in this motor, they will go in something else. I did test a couple side-by-side with new motorcraft plugs, and had very similar results; I can...

anyone ever have a eather explosion inside the crankcase?

I've had it happen once. Picked up a JY motor, and it /would not/ start. Something wrong with it evidently. Well, we tried for quite a while to get it started, including trying glow plugs(by themselves), ether(by itself), and, well, at one point tried glow plugs and I guess there was enough...

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

Finally got a chance to post a video: First start, from before I posted this topic. ---- So, at this point, I'm fairly convinced that all 8 glow plugs are working. I went in and tested the other four, checked the harness, and installed a new relay. Still... nothing. Tries to fire on two...

Need part number on TE06h turbo flange

If it's the TE06H, which it looks like... Yes, 2.75 is the size.

2x4 to 4x4 swap. What years for parts?

If you want to keep a dually, just get spacers for the front axle. My dad has a F-250 single cab(so dana 44 front axle, weakest axle under an IDI), and the previous owner had converted it to dually for hauling a large camper. Spacers front and back. No clue how many years he ran it like that; my...

Anyone else bought a bad turn signal switch?

Those 'switches' being the piece of plastic with two spring-y bent bits of wire on it? Yeah, I swapped in an aftermarket one in my single cab '88; I get intermittent brake lights on the left side, especially if it's not exactly centered after the turn signals come off. Piece of junk.

    Building a better db2

Would be useful for on-the-truck measuring, and reconditioning of old IPs when you don't have a test stand - transfer pressure affects timing advance, so you can see the health of the timing advance/transfer pump that way I'd think.

    Some injector trivia

Because, on the pump, the "pumping elements" have no spring to push them open. They just sit there, freely moving, until they get pushed closed by the cam ring. To open again, they need pressure on the inside of them(which comes from the transfer pump). If the housing(and therefor pressure on...

    Building a better db2

Hm, does that mean it might be worth modifying the test stand to include a heater for the working fluid(to keep it near truck levels), along with perhaps a heat blanket or some other heater to warm the pump up to operating temperatures as well?

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

It looks interesting for a couple of reasons - One, true cold air intake. A 6637 just *there* is a hot-air intake. Also, price - looks like a 6637 is around $45? AIS filter element seems very close in price - $38 on Amazon right now, and should last a *lot* longer with the same dirt load, due to...

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

So... Been busy. Haven't done anything on the truck, except for plug it in one or two days this week, and drove it to work. I did put a small load on it - bed half full of cinder blocks(50), and half full of propane tanks(100 gallons filled!), with a smaller trailer behind it and anotjher 50...

    N/A Diesel Exhaust Theory

Yes, you are right. You will notice that the same day(same post), a stock N/A made the same... 125... that I rate a N/A IDI at. He's also only hauling a <5K bronco around, not a 6.5K truck, plus optional trailer. When you don't need to put any fuel into the motor(due to less work needing to be...

    ZF5 to ZF6 in a 1989 f250?

I don't know why? http://www.dieselhub.com/trans/zf-5-speed.html Wide ratio is .01 /taller/ ratio than short ratio. So you should see a very slight increase in MPH at the same RPM.

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

So, I bought Torque Pro, and installed a couple of custom PIDs for it, for ICP and IPR. Tried cranking, no data. OK, try to actually start it. GP relay short cycles? Like... staying on for perhaps 5-10 seconds, then cycling off and on like an IDI. Vs before, where it would stay on for 30 or so...

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

Assuming the sensor is good, though(which is what my current assumption is), it would tell me if the HPOP pressure is low. And if the pressure(relative) is much higher on a warm start than a cold one, I might need to look deeper here.

    N/A Diesel Exhaust Theory

I saw it when it first came out. I just spent the last few minutes pulling up the topic and getting links: I did miss-remember it - he did make higher numbers in WHP. But I stand by my point. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1346590-racinndrummins-fullsize-bronco-idi-build-14.html#post15549316...

    ZF5 to ZF6 in a 1989 f250?

If you want an extra gear, basically you need to go with 3.55s(higher top gear but harder to start off the line towing), or keep your 4.10s and install an overdrive box like a Gear Vendor box. I have a GV Overdrive on one of my trucks, and it's perfect, but expensive! Low gears for towing, A...

    N/A Diesel Exhaust Theory

I'm saying based on what I've experienced. Everything I've laid out here is backed up by dyno numbers I've seen in person at a legit dyno event(Hunting 4 Horsepower in Coeur D'Alene Idaho), with SAE-compensated wheel HP numbers. I'm not convinced that's not /engine/ HP instead /wheel/ HP...

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

Yeah. I never held any GP to power that long. Because I'm used to the IDI world - if you get a current draw there and it glows red at /all/, it'll be fine. (I've seen *one* partially failed plug before - it wouldn't glow at all within 10 seconds, though would slowly rise in temperature and...

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

Right. So... Today I pulled the driver's valve cover off. Found that I need new CCV O-rings. Looks like when the CVV O-rings extruded far enough past the CVV filter piece, it left a gap for unfiltered air to get in... which is why my turbo compressor looks a bit sandblasted and worn down on the...

    N/A Diesel Exhaust Theory

No, not even close. You are limited by the amount of oxygen you can get into the cylinder. Like I said, a worn motor might make 85. New, 125 - 47% increase. A turbo and minor tuning? 200HP or 135% increase over a worn motor(These numbers are wheel HP, or the actual amount of power you put to the...

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

So... it's pretty clear it's an engine heat issue. Plug her in for a few hours and she fires right up. Drive her to work, fire her up after 6 hours and she fires a little rough but is fine. Wait 8.5 hours instead at slightly colder temps and... barely starts with several cycles of GPs. Glow...

    N/A Diesel Exhaust Theory

The most interesting part is that you find that a turbo gives you more (relative) gain on a worn out motor than a fresh one - with a fresh one, you are actually pulling in air, compressing (most of) it. On a worn engine, well, you are leaking a lot more of that past the rings, resulting in lower...

    Double cardan delete?

*front* driveshaft. So, cab/bed configuration is the same(engine/trans/tcase/axle is the only thing that matters). I've only got one shop within 50 miles of me that can do "driveline work". I say that in quotes, because while they can weld one up, they can't balance it. And when I had them make...
