That is pretty much normal wear. How does the valve face of it look? Along with the push rod and part in rocker? All important areas to check out. If planning on replacing fairly soon would just run them.
I would think running a 7.3 with less then 3.55 gears going to start running into problems, shifting all the time unless on flat ground, not having any real power. I actually think you would end up with less MPG . MHO There is a reason why trucks don't have gearing in the low 3.00- 3.55.
My first 7.3 was a 4x4 with a C-6 I can't say that I thought it was so bad. Drove down the road as fast as I wanted to go and don't remember the mileage being that bad for a truck.
With a magnet block heater you better make sure you plug it in as soon as you shut the truck off. 200 watt heater is not much compared to the 1000 watt one have in the block. Lower radiator hose one are hard on the hose all that heat makes the hose get bad in shorter amount of time. In a 7.3 I...
Have you tried jumping the little terminal at the starter? If it just clicks there starter is bad. Month old or not. Also bench testing a diesel starter proves nothing. Had mine go out once took it off had it bench tested , said it was fine. I said give me a new one anyhow truck started right up .
Have you checked the clutch interlock switch to made sure you are getting power through it. Had that happen on my 93 , at times truck would not start, bypassed it have have not had a problem since.
Just check them for any abnormal wear. Copper end of pushrod goes toward the rocker arm. when the pushrod is in the rocker you should be able to blow through it at operating angles if not rocker or push rod is bad and needs replacing.
I respectfully disagree with this. On a 1/2 truck I don't believe the rim is centered on the bearing, never have really checked though. There are untold number of full floating 3/4 ton rear ends out there with duals on them that have had no undue bearing trouble , something we have done for...
A lot of guys will just pull one of the duals off the rear for the winter and run them that way. With single rear rims they will track different then the fronts. Can't really see any reason would affect the wheel bearings though.
A turbo engine should have a C code in the vin at least in 93 they did. Also check the stamped code on front of block right behind IP cover , should be stamped with a T there in the numbers. Just because it has a turbo on it does not make it a turbo engine. A lot of people have put NA engine in...
