Have you checked with U-Haul if the have one that would work? A number of years ago towed a E150 behind my other E150 I had at the time. Worked just fine, just make sure pull rear drive line.
400 miles , should just drive it, at a Sunday afternoon drive in Montana LOL
Need a bigger hammer? I know it is not fun when things just don't do what they are suppose to, Have had that when installing a trany, fight and fight to get it lined up, most of the time just had to walk away and come back later to have it just fall right in.
My bad was thinking of a different transmission. But it should move just a little back and forth and wiggle a little in the holes.

With the case bolted up does the torque converter still turn freely before bolting it up? If so believe it is installed correct. If not well you have problems. Have installed a lot of transmission over the years and most you do pull them forward some, but have done an 4r100. Main thing is they...
Sorry miss read that. It's amazing what some dumb parts guy will tell you. Kind of funny the other day was at the parts store , guy getting a starter for his 6.9 , he ask if they can test the old one, yep. I pip up and say no you can't the test only shows if it will spin, not that it will work...
Some of them parts guys are really something, there is no way there machine should not be able to check alt output. You should go in and ask for some hyd muffler bearings for your truck, be sure to tell them what color the truck is it is important. LOL
I would take that 65 back and have them give you the 100 that belongs on the truck. And if you wiring is cut am sure one of us here can help you get it wired back right.
It is not completely true that the alt can't be tested with out the regulator. From back in the day when I did mechanic work I had this tester which you plug in place of the regulator . Then with a voltmeter you can tell how much the alt is putting out and if the reg is bad. Granted with this...
Personally I would never pull the converter with the engine unless the engine was froze up. You are going to have to put the converter back in the transmission before putting the engine in. Or al least you should. Plus the oil mess. Also by leaving it in you push the convert back against the...
Don't need a seal puller they will just tap out. Also when installing just lay the cover on a flat surface and tap seal in, use like a piece of metal large enough to cover the seal, that way you have more control of tapping it in straight.
I was thinking with the oil pan on it might be a little easier with the IP housing not on, could also put it on and not tighten down until front cover is on.
Being you have the front cover off, I would have the gears all lined up then carefully put the front cover on then the pump gear cover then pump. Use like gasket maker silicone for the pump gear cover. Just make sure you don't lift the pump gear up off the timing gear while putting things back...
I know very little about Duramax , other then they say you don't want to run cheap fuel filters in them , friend of mine only runs GM one. Also sounds like you have a tuner with different setting. Hope it works out good for you. I only run Ford diesels 7.3s LOL
Wow , Sure seems to be enough custom ones then. So what did they do take the front cab and chassis 4x4 stuff and put them under a 2x or put the dually rear end under a cab and chassis.
