    OK, after a bit more research I think it would be a wise idea to just replace the coolant in my truck with one with the additive already included. Anyone else go that route?

    What do those test strips test for and what are they called. I've had my 1988 7.3 idi for about 5 years now and had a new radiator installed and a coolant flush about three years ago but never added any type of additive. Used the green coolant so now I'm a bit worried about this issue.

    Now that is a big help, seeing what I am looking for before I tear into it is a big plus. Thanks for sharing that post with us. That will take care of the mid tank and I am going to drop the rear tank to see if the same part will work there as well when the part gets delivered.

    Lifting the bed is not an option, it's a flatbed and probably weighs about as much as the truck does itself.

    I like the idea of using a piece of fuel hose, I may put a brass fitting on the end to ensure that it does not suction itself down like you mentioned. I have yet to crawl under the truck and drop the tanks but I'm planning to the next clear day we have. Thanks for the relies everyone.

    Yes I do need the whole assembly because my gauge stays pegged at full until about 5 or 6 miles before the tank runs dry. The needle will start jumping and I know I have around 5 miles until I start running out of fuel.

    I've got a 1988 F-350 7.3 IDI with a dual rear end and two fuel tanks. I know I need both fuel pickup tubes A.K.A. "The showerheads" but I'm not having much luck in finding ones to fit my truck. I see them listed for 1992 and up ect. but none for the 88. Anyone else had luck finding these parts?
