I was wanting to know what oil filter do you use for the 7.3 IDI?
For reference, the factory FL784 filter was rated for like 30 Microns nominal... Looking for something finer.
Has anyone used the Baldwin B7513 that has a Micron Rating of 3 Nominal; 10 Absolute? Would a rating like this...
Thank you for your input. I have essentially arrived at the same conclusion after looking closer. I see in that diagram there's a step in too. only diff is mine is like .31" and that is calling for like a .20" shoulder.
I've decided that given the rings and wrist pin are well above this area...
I thought this was interesting... from the AERA bulletin for the 7.3/6.9 pertaining to injection lines.
"Injection lines - Due to the .060" retraction of the injector nozzle on the 7.3, all 7.3 injector lines have been shortened by .060" However, all lines with the exception of #1 on F series...
Thank you for the feedback. This is terrible. I somehow missed it on pickup. This is the same machinist that messed up my first block and this is his replacement so I find it difficult he will be willing to make it right at this point. I will go see him today.. worst he can say is no. I had to...
Today I was assembling my motor when I noticed I have a somewhat sharp edge on 3 of my 8 sleeved cylinders. pressing a feeler next to this edge/lip I estimate it's about .010" maybe less. My machinist previously stated he added a 5/16 shoulder at the bottom of each cylinder for the sleeve to...
I deleted the shower head and went with a fuel tank sump. $35 on eBay for billet aluminum. Drilled a 3-in hole in the bottom of my tank after thoroughly removing the fuel. Used 6an connectors to tie into the factory fuel line. Now I can use every drop of fuel and not worry about a shower head...
I would be curious what your free spread and saddle width measure. I just used a quality set of calipers. For the rod bearings, as long as they are pushed into the rods and cap tightly and are not falling out on their own, you should be fine. Make sure you plasti gauge to check your clearance...
I wanted to share an important "heads up" regarding King main thrust bearings that have been produced since 2024. Engine Tech branded 7.3 IDI main bearings are in fact King bearings just repackaged by Engine Tech FYI. I received a set of Engine Tech Mains from my machine shop a year ago and...
I would imagine that if all the lines had increased length by the same percentage, timing should be just fine. You just might have to adjust base timing a little but after that, be just fine. But if not all are increased by the same percentage, I could see problems.. Maybe CDD has corrected this...
Hi, has anyone used the Samco Sport silicone radiator hoses for the 6.9 and 7.3? Seems Samco radiator hoses last almost forever. I am planning to run Evans coolant and like the idea of hoses that will last as long as the coolant will ha. See below link...
