I have a worn out 6.9 bored .60 over with a ton of blow by and smokes badly. I have dumped a ton of $$ into it. I frankly was done with it and went out and bought a nice Chevy obs. It’s tougher material then you think, I would buy new outer door seal also and do it at the same time.- Kdo58

Seams like just I washed it with a bucket of water and dish soap. Did my rx7 without the mass backing was very disappointed with the results on my truck I ordered carpet with mass backing.- Kdo58

Hard start, new DB2 & new fuel lines on back end of lift pump.
Try to start it with starting fluid, if it starts right up it probably your glow plug system.- Kdo58

I have done it all kilmat thick carpet with rubber backing, the one thing that made the biggest difference was new door seals.- Kdo58

Bad glow plug trouble
I bought a genuine warn winch solenoid, I figured a winch solenoid would be heavy duty. I just took my ohm meter to the small bolts to figure which was the ground.- Kdo58

I bought a glow plug controller from Napa it was bad, I just went and bought Cdd glow plug system , never had a problem since.- Kdo58

7.3 idi hard to start unless use starting fluid or block heater
If it’s clicking it not a manual glow plug system. Cdd sells a kit for a manual system.- Kdo58
