I need to sell My 1985 F350 Dually with Banks turbo and overdrive. It is located in Baker City, OR. Here is the craigslist link;

Plans are; first dump the camper haha, then some new paint and wheels for the truck. It runs good and has decent interior, won't take much to get it looking good again hopefully!
I've had this truck for 2 months now, here is vehicle #4 I have brought home with it so far. It is the heaviest load weighing in at 18,400 pounds on the scales. It handled the load comfortably and safely, I am very happy with this truck:) It was 210 miles round trip with several grades to climb...
I read it in the manual I believe and several threads about it. Anyways, the moment you pull the switch for the overdrive it instantly slams into gear and the entire truck shutters and grinds..
No I have not, but after reading that the DNE2 unit should not be shifted under 25mph I realized the problem I think... my speedometer is broken! So I think that is the problem. Would this cause a hard shift?
Thanks for all of the replies. It seems that nobody has the answer for what fluid to use in the Dual Range unit, well I finally found it! Here it is to share directly from the original installation manual:
"Fill the Dual Range with 80-90 wgt. gear lube or equivalent (approximately 32 ounces)...
I have a 1985 F350 6.9/ 4 speed manual/ DNE2 overdrive/ banks turbo. I have been searching for days now trying to find a definitive thread about what fluids to use in my truck. Could some one point out some threads that show fluid requirements? Here is what I plan on using based on what I've...
Ok, so I think it is a Doug Nash unit. It has a Dual Range badge with 'DNE2' in the middle, I need to get some pics in the day light. I can't get it to shift smoothly, it always clunks HARD when up shifting or down shifting with the splitter button. Maybe I just don't have it figured out yet...
Thanks for the replies. Yes, I believe it is a U.S. Gear unit. It is bolted on the back of the trans.
Do I need to shift through all gears using the splitter at all times, or can I just leave it in High range (button up) and drive it normally?
Hello I just bought a 1985 F-350 with Dual Range gear and Banks turbo. I am having a hard time using it correctly, could someone explain which direction is engaged on the pull switch? Pulled out or Pushed in? And the correct way to shift it? Thanks!
