    Dyno Day!

Nice. When you say the IP is maxed out is that max factory or max aftermarket? Those torque numbers are freaking sweet.

    Bandaid on a bullet wound

I had a 1994 Turbo IDI, traded it away, had similar miles as yours and never had an issue with oil consumption. Mine did have a bad compressor wheel on the turbo though so maybe that was why. Mine had a tendency to run hot when working but a new set of injectors solved that issue. Unfortunately...

    6.9 IDI in International 1654

Sorry Duke57 for the massive wait but it is the injection pump. Actually that's not available anymore. I've traded it and another for a Sandrail/Dune Buggy. Was thinking about putting it in a F-600 but then this deal came along and I'm a sucker for projects.... that or insane (the voices in my...

Top speed 55mph normal for 6.9?

No need to apologize about ignorance. We are all ignorant on somethings. Those who need to apologize are the people who are ignorant and pretend not to be.

    E4OD post-mortem, rebuild and upgrades

Thanks a bunch Farmer Rock. Does it automatically "watch" every thread that you reply to? Curious because I didn't hit watch thread but I noticed I had the option to un-watch. Once again thanks for the help

    E4OD post-mortem, rebuild and upgrades

Hello, Is there a way to save a thread? I'd like to save this thread so I can come back and read it thoroughly later when I have time. Thanks all

I don't know. Like I've said previously I'm not convinced that you were experiencing valve float. I'm not saying that you weren't seeing your valves sticking open but that doesn't necessarily have to be caused by lifter being over pumped. It could have been caused by the valves sticking in their...

What? You are directly contradicting what you quoted. At this point it feels as if you have decided that you are absolutely right and nothing will change your mind. Maybe you are and maybe you are not, I do not know. If it were my vehicle I would not be satisfied with that explanation but it...

I'm reading it and so far everything it says agrees with what I have been saying. The only way something like this could even possibly occur is if the valve springs are very very weak. Now I'm not trying to pretend to be an expert in valve train mechanics nor in fluid dynamics I'm just have...

How exactly is that supposed to work? Valve float as I explained earlier is when the valves fail to re-seat. Solid lifters don't cause valve float so how could a hydraulic lifter which can not grow cause valve float? Perhaps we are using the term valve float to mean two different things or...

Valve float happens when the springs aren't able to return the valve to the seat fast enough at high RPM. That should not be an issue with starting. You might want to check and make sure that all your valves are properly seating though because that could cause a lack of compression.

    EBAY TURBO BUILD

I suppose the 6.9IDI is sort of rare. I've got a pair of the 7.3 IDI's one turbo and one non turbo. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I want to do with them. I had a 1986 F250 with the 6.9l in it. I bought it for $800 and sold it for $1600 and have regretted selling it almost immediately.

    EBAY TURBO BUILD

So your question is what will your power output be with the new turbo? I think that depends upon your pump and turbo combo. An oversized turbo will be doggy and will only build boost under hard acceleration an undersized turbo will build boost quickly but will choke out. Outside of that...

    Combine powered f250 diesel

There's a truck around here like that. If I remember correctly it's an S-10 or equivalent and has a 4 cylinder diesel in it out of a tractor. I can't remember the engine size or horsepower but it has painted on it that it gets like 54 mpg. It's been several years since I've seen it but that's...
