I haven't really noticed that. I was pulling the 5'er which is about 9000lbs & it was 90-95* outside. Ran damn good considering the weight. Alot of surge though.

well im in houston so the humidity would certainly make sense because it was up there today. the weather stripping that goes around the heat shield of the air intake came off. could this be making any difference at all?

the surge and woosh are there from the factory
the factory air cleaner just masks the sounds.
when ya open the air filter up then you hear the noises.

im not worried about the noise so much as i am performance. could having the weather stripping missing from the heat shield on my air intake be letting too much hot and humid air in causing a decrease in performance?

the noise is more of a problem than the performance.
running with the surge will kill a turbo.

YES
been there done that
when I had the 00
after I put the fule system on it the surge got so bad on the way home pulling the 5er that any grade I came to starting at 14 psi up to 22 psi the turbo surged so bad that the needle on the guage was bouncing.
I had to keep it under 14 psi or over 21 psi for the trip home.
that was a sunday, monday morning the ats housing was ordered
truck had 22k on it then.
when I rolled it it had 75 k on it, many towing miles. 0 surge with the housing.
