I posted this on the wrong forum. So here we go again...

I'm buying a 94 12V. Its not running and pretty ugly. So where can i stat reading about these engines. I know there isn't a lot too them and i'm used to working on the old Ford 6.9 and 7.3 IDI so i'm thinking it can't be too much different.

True you should be able to find out here as well. A diesel's a diesel more or less. As long as you have fuel and compression, it should run.

When mines not running, I get out and
beat the hell out of it with my purse.
Works every time.

If you think you'd rather save the neighbours
from watching that, try these steps.

You need air and fuel. We can safely
assume there's air, so is there fuel.
Start at the back,,,, fuel in the tank?
Yes it's a stupid question, but it has happened.
Don't trust the gauge, throw in 5 gallons.
Fill up a new fuel filter and spin that on.
Pump the lift pump till it's hard to pump.
Use a broom stick or something to reach it.
When you turn the key on and crank
does the fuel shut off solenoid work?
It should pull itself up when you hit the key.
If not, with your key on, pull it up with your
finger, then crank. Should be running at this
point. If not, crack the injector lines, air or fuel?
Air? Go back to pumping the lift pump. Double check
the solenoid again since it's right there in your face.
Pedal down at least a 1/3 of the way, and crank.
Yes it will run on ether. You don't need to try that.
We want it to start and run on it's own.

Hope some of this helps. :)

You might want to leave the new filter on loose. That way when you manually pump the fuel you can tell when/if the filter's full then tighten the filter. If you still not getting fuel, don't forget to check the prefilter down by the lift pump. It's just a screen but it could be clogged up with crud.

top rear of the injection pump - you can barely see it but it's actually pretty easy to snake you hand in there and pull it up or check to make sure it's up.
