Hi guys, Any idea what a good used Banks wastegated turbo kit is worth?
I blew a head gasket on my 1984 6.9l about 120 miles from home in the middle of the night, overheated her pretty good, got it cooled down and limped it w/ the radiator cap loose at 50mph the rest of the way home. Not ideal I know, but I was in a bind and it was the only option at the time. The 6.9L wasn't knocking but it had a distinctly different idle sound to it.
Long and the short of it is new gaskets and head studs are gonna run $500+, and alot more if I find a warped head or galled piston when I tear it down. With that in mind I am thinking about pulling the 6.9L, selling off the turbo and pieces, and put that towards a 12v Cummins swap. I figure if I'm gonna sink the money into an engine again, then I want some more hp for the money.
