Yeah you may be off topic but you are right about the new trucks! I still am a fence sitter as to whether the IDIs and diesels generally will still be around in 10 or 20 years. The verdict is still out.

Mikes91 said:Undoubtedly... not to mention they just look like trucks!! Aside from the Dodge in a 3500/DRW/longbed I'm not too happy with what's coming out these days. Honestly, they're all becoming too "suburbanized" and not enough "get down to business, keep body parts and body repairs cheap". Too many smooth curves, integrated bumpers, low front-ends that you can't even hop a curb with, etc... The Ford and Chevy half tons being a case in point.
Boy, I really got off the topic here, huh?!?!?
jdkline said:Mike, our diesels may be able to at least meet emission requirements that haven't even been thought of yet with biodiesel or the new ultra low sulfur diesel coming in 06. They haven't even regulated antique gas engines and marine 2-strokes out of existence, and I would think our IDI's and the mechanical goats look downright earthy-crunchy next to these....but then again I hear in some European cities, older trucks are restricted to off peak hours and in some cases anything with visible exhaust emissions will be stopped and towed.

Agnem said:Boy I can see myself getting real creative to get around that one. A switch on my dash that operates an exhaust pipe valve that diverts all my stack destined exhaust through a hose into a 20,000 gallon empty fiberglass underground tank that's on a flatbed I'm towing. I'd think there would be enough volume in there that I could pump smoke into it, until that cop I saw coming gets past me and out of view, at which time I'd flip the switch and the tank would vent to atmoshphere.
the truck lost a driveshaft carrier bearing...again
