I used to have to use ether to start my truck every morning and even sometimes if I'd let it sit for a couple hours. I adjusted my idle up 200 rpms and but now I haven't had to use ether yet. Sat for a week straight, hopped in it and started after like 3 seconds of cranking. Did my truck just fix its own glowplugs when i wasnt home or what? HAHA

If You need to use the glow plugs to start it after a couple of hours off then something is off, I would think air leak first. My 84 (manual glow plugs) I use the glow plugs in the morning then the rest of the day it cranks for one second and it is running.

since i installed some good glowplugs in my 85 with a manual switch it starts right up. i dont have to use them hardly when it warms maybe once in a while for 4 or 5 seconds.
