So I broke a head bolt when pulling my heads, as some of you may know, and I ended up pulling the block out of the truck to go ahead and completely reseal the engine and have room to extract the broken bolt. Long story short and a few beers later we broke an extractor, striped another one, and had no luck...so off to the machine shop I go..again. Shortly after fiddling with the head bolt, I noticed on cylinder number 5 (pas side 3rd one from front) had a slight indention as if a valve had been kissing it just ever so slightly. I wouldn't have noticed it if we hadn't had a blower handy and with all the PB blaster and WD-40 that was coating everything after we blew everything off WA-LA! Heads have already been machined, I'll have to ask him again which head he had to take .005 off one of them and barely any on the other. Are there thicker head gaskets available? I've already got a complete gasket set just haven't been able to reassemble any thing yet. What's yall's thoughts?
