turbo rebuild or not

I have a 94 idi factory turbo that is out right now for an ats upgrade kit. checking the turbo I found some up and down play but no side to side is this normal or should I have the turbo rebuilt . truck was running alright but was loosing boost maxed out at 5# exhaust was leaking at the elbow and down pipe. I was wondering if this would cuase me to loose boost also.

if you're running a unmolested factory turbo, the wastegate is pinned at 5lbs. if you aren't consuming oil through the seals or the blades aren't hitting the compressor housing, you don't need to go through the expense of a rebuild.
