I've been looking at that, the best i can figure is fabbing a small frame from 1/8" plate to bolt the pedestal to, then bolting it to the glow plug relay mounts and cdr mounting holes, and tapping the bottom for the return line to go thru the valley pan

^ exactly
Do away with the factory pedestal completely.
Either make a small plate with oring bosses, or tap the current holes.
Not like you'll be using the pedestal for mounting anyways.
Then just remove the butterfly and pin.

79jasper, that's it, or close to It, i thought about fabbing the plate to mount the pedestal, i wasn't sure that mounting the turbo without it would be secure enough, i guess it would work.

If it will, that will simplify it enormously

I didn't look real closely at the ports when I had mine apart. So look closely at the ports to see if they can be tapped. And maybe even bore them bigger first. At least the drain side.
But otherwise, the pedestal isn't needed. The exhaust housing should support it just fine. Practically all other turbos are mounted that way.

Now that i think about it, your right.
Most of em are mounted like that, it should be fine, but I'll look close to make sure.

If it does, that will free up a boatload of room

By the way, not to change the subject, but you wouldn't happen to know the pressure tube diameter for the turbo would you ?

Something like 2 inches.
You need it for the v band flange size for say a intercooler hose?

Yeah, i plan on running a small intercooler....say...one of the generic ones from eBay, not too small..don't want too defeat the purpose, but i don't have a 350 CAT either haha
Just a shot in the dark, something like....12×20 or so

Well you can also find 6.0 powerstroke intercoolers for fairly cheap. They're big, but will fit.
But even one of the cx racing ones seen here will work fine.
I can measure mine when the housing comes in. Says Saturday, so we'll see.

Not really lag. Less boost? Yes.
But cooler denser air is better than hot air.
The 6.0 psd one is bigger than the 7.3 psd one. It's actually made to flow more, as the 6.0 sees more boost.
From a quick search, I seen a few idi people using them on obs and brick nose trucks.
If it works, here's a pic comparison. http://s1192.photobucket.com/user/bknight187/media-full/intercooler pics/Intercoolers.jpg.html
Can usually get them fairly cheap, as the 6.0 guys are upgrading.

I can't see the pic, but i was wondering the exact issue it would cause.

I was just guessing, going on the fact of a larger area to pressurize before it reaches the actual intake.
But that does make more sense, in terms of less boost versus lag.

That's the case, I'd defiantly need the ww2
