When you guys talk about advancing your timming how far do you normaly advance it? I guess 1/16" is about 2 degrees, I was retarding and advancing mine by 1/16" in either direction to see its efect on a knock I have. I ended up leaving it at 1/16" advanced toward pass side, is that too far? Should I put it back to the factory mark?

Thanks,

There is really no way to tell without a meter. Presumably you should just put it back to where it was if the experiment was fruitless. I've timed a lot of pumps, and they range from the correct setting being just to the drivers side, all the way to the correct setting just being out of reach of the possible limits of rotation.

It seems to run pretty strong where it is now, think it blows a bit more smoke a bit easier which would probably mean terrible milleage. Guess I'll put it back to where it was, I don't want to cause any damage.

What can you buy to time one of these?
