Timing engine would this work???

I found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dies...otive_Tools&hash=item3f0ab4cf22#ht_500wt_1182 it says it will work with IH 6.9 IDI engines but is this a good way to time the engine? Or should I save up for the ferret timing adapter? How would you measure the timing in degrees with this thing? The balancer only has "0" on it I think

Well I guess I should have done a better search! Found lots of info and with the 20 degree offset this is more of a PITA then its worth. But that probe will work with the MT480/MT1480 units and maybe worth buying just for that!
