So here's the link to the posting on CL
http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/4738778379.html
So lookin for advice once again,
It's a 7.3 non turbo has 254,500 miles on it said he just changed and flushed the trans fluid, said the oil is good for 2,500 miles, antifreeze is good but not changed. I asked him about SCA's and he had no idea about SCA's or cavitation, says he get about 15 to the gallon, now I know cavitation is very rare to be seen but with him not knowing about SCA's and cavitation is that a red flag or no?
That is for the help anyone.

id say the truck is worth it.
IMO i wouldnt buy a F250.
only because i would want a minimum of a d-60 front
i also love those crew cabs.
to each their own tho!

Sounds like he's ready to deal, people would kill for that truck at that price up here!

I would ask how long he has owned it and how any miles he put on it. Not knowning about SCA's the previous owner may have used SCA's or coolant with it in there. Coolant with SCA's is good for many miles. Other wise I'd weary about cavitation or being very close to it with that many miles on it.

This question plus sca test strips wouldn't be a bad idea.

A little pricy for a reg cab with a TTB front, but it does look rust free and has a zf5 so maybe not unreasonable.

I think I would try and get him down a little and try to find a D60 to put in it if everything checks out.

Sounds like he wants to deal. I'd go in at 1800 or so, but doesn't seem like a bad rig if it is rust free. Up here rusty 4x4 trucks bring $1500 pretty easy.

Interesting how much the seller dwells on the fluids (which most buyers change out as a matter of course anyway), but offers no explanation for the MISSING BUMPER. Yeah, this being an XL truck, I'd offer $1800, maybe be willing to shell out $2K.

Napa has the test strips. Look at the date to make sure they aren't "expired."
Or try a truck stop.
