When i back up what sounds like my rear passanger tire area squeaks, and occasionally does it when i take off going forward.. U joint going out? Any other ideas?

Sounds stupid but it sounds like the squeak is "rotating" with my tire....

Could be a u-joint. I usually locate them driving through town where the sound will bounce off the buildings where you can here it.

Could be in the brake drum too. Check your gear lube level too. Slight chance the hub could be dry if the seal is leaking.

Crawl underneath and grab the driveshaft. Try to twist ot and check for play between shaft and yokes. Pull drums and looks for broken off or loose hardware floating around in there. And I'm with laser, cant hurt to check the fluid level.

I've had a carrier bearing do exactly that. Thing tried locking up.
I've also had the little self adjuster cable holder pop off and do that.
