So I got a few coolant test strips from the local Carquest, and the chart says nothing about SCA. has four different possibilities

conventional coolant- reserve alkalinity and freeze/boil point

long life coolant-ph and freeze/boil point

are these strips no good for checking SCA, or does one of the alkalinity or ph tests tell me what I want to know in a roundabout way???

You need to get the right test strips dependant upon the coolant that your using and the SCA's that are in it. DCA4 requires strips which test nitrate/molybdate (refered to often as 3 way test strips) and DCA2 requires Nitrate or 2 way test strips. Lots of info here on this. Just do a search.

Remind us again what you are using for SCA? Is it DCA-2 or DCA-4? Those strips from Carquest are not going to measure either.
