Seems to me I heard somewhere that ford installed reman pumps when new sometimes, I mean on a new truck there might be a reman pump. Is this true or possible? I am wondering because my van has a reman sticker, but only about 80k miles, so shouldn't have needed a rebuild really.

If a part fails under warranty it is often replaced with a factory remanufactured part. This holds true today also.

It's no surprise that an IP has been replaced on an 18 year old truck. There are a lot of things that can go wrong besides simply wearing out.

Yep, they don't like to have to sit without being run for a long time, and it may have gotten some cruddy fuel, been repeatedly run out of fuel, or had a dose of gasoline or water. If its a good reman it's as good as new in my book. If its a bad reman, it's trash. If its been running all these years I wouldn't worry about it a bit as long as it continues to do its job.
