Ok i plan on pulling the filter head off in the morning and going over it for leaks before i put fuel back in the system.. Now i hav'nt even looked at it yet realy so i was wondering what needs done to make these leak free. Also my main question is the fuel heater, can i delete that. Im in pa so i worried about cold starts in the winter, but i read it realy does'nt do anything but cause leaks.. If there's anytning else i should know before i pull it off post up, i want to go over the whole thing good before i put it back on... thanks

I eliminated the heater but I'm in Texas.
I replaced the check valve and plugged the pressure sensor.

Ended up installing a 33417 filter.Basically its a one piece filter with out the water in fuel sensor. I didn't want to hassle the the potential air/fuel leaks on the bottom of the old filter assemble.

Truck starts up GREAT. Although I did do the following mods at the same time.

Replaced the olives on the steel lines
replaced all glow plugs
electric fuel pump
manual glow plug switch
new fuel tanks and pick up tubes.
