ok i found a guy with a two wheel drive zf5 now i want 4x4 i was wondering if anybody ever did a swap and did a divorced transfer case or if it would even work right i know im guna need an intermidiate shaft along with a home made transfer case support bracket and custom drive shafts

from what i hear if you can find zf5 that is 4x4 (ie a gasser sb or bb) you can unbolt the back half and take some of the parts as well and switch it over to the 2wd diesel zf

yea thats the issue i cant find a 4x4 zf5 my buddy has one and wont sell it to me he says its a spare so if he screws up the one in his 7.3powerstroke which he has a brand new rebuilt trans in his truck

How many do you want? I know where there are at least 3 460 4x4 ones for $250 a piece and I am sure http://www.collistruckpartsonline.com/ has a bunch of diesel ones but most likely 800+ a piece

How diffrent are the 460 zf5 does it change the gear ratios much and do they hold up to our Idis I'm asking all this now because my 7.3 my overdrive started to blink I need to get It plugged in and if something majors wrong I'm scrapin the e4od and want to go manuel with the truck

Yes they do hold up to the 7.3. I had one in my '93 F-350. I am not sure about the gear ratios.

ok thanks brad and last question does anything need to be changed like input for it to line up with a 7.3 clutch disc

Once you've modified the bellhousing to the diesel patten, the 460 ZF5 just bolts to the back of IDI. The input shafts are the same on the 460/diesel version. You will need a diesel specific flywheel/clutch.
