no start?

Hey guys I have a friend of mine thats looking at buying an 85 f250 with the 6.9 4 speed the question I have is it has one battery in it and we were told that it would pullstart we tried pulling it and for some reason it was a no go what do you guys think? we know that it needs new batterys and a starter but we don't know why it wouldn't pull start.

What gear did you attempt the pullstart in?

Then it was not getting any fuel. See if the tanks have at least 1/2 tank. If they are down to the last 1/4 then I bet the pickups are broken off in the tanks....

Well we went back again this evening took one of my good batteries out of my '89 and went back to take a second look we dropped battery in and we looked a little closer and saw one of the starter solenoids was cracked jumped it across and it tried to fire so we tried pull starting again and it started up! Now can anyone explain to me why they had two starter solenoids on the slant noses?

One is for the starter and one is for the glow plugs...
