Been out of the idi game a while.
Sold my 74 ih with the 6.9 and my 6.9 rollback.
Thought I was done with them really. For all my towing I Was putting the miles on my Fummins.

Instantaneous ridiculous power and mileage are great but there's something about the cackle of that old n/a v8 chugging along.

Just picked up a truck I waited 3 years for.

Welcome back in the idi game.. Nice looking wrecker. Sadly that engine is no longer allowed on the roads here in cali.. But have that same engine in an f250 or 350 rig and your golden.. Great state isn't it.

It's awesome. Funny even with 5.13s it's still kinda doggy. I checked the timing and threw a fuel filter at it. She's at 140k miles I think she eventually will need some fuel sticks and a pump. But runs great otherwise.

welcome back into the game :D
there's 1 million and 1 uses for a wrecker around the house :D
150k/mi on a plain wrapper truck isn't very common.
po must have been a hobby tower or worked for the JerrDan factory in Greencastle.

Well I can't speak for the p.p.o. But the guy I bought it off of bought it with 109 3 years ago.
He made his living doing local towing for AAA.

This truck was a good test. Pretty heavy. Towed great. I live in a very hilly area and I was very happy with the performance.

Trying to figure out why on high. With a new blower motor. My heat barely whisps out of the vents. Yeah I said whisps. Lol
Well it an ac truck. Iirc the air has to go through the heater core and this evap core.
If that's true then this could be a blockage!!
Here's hoping. I'm putting back together now

The heat will blow you out of the cab now. And while I was in there I threw the ol' pulse adapter on her an put it up to 8.5. Woke her up a little. I actually accelerated while in overdrive :)

Yup, it does that so it can use the evap core to dry the air our before sending it thru the heater core for roasting out a frozen windshield. That's why you can see (with an IDI hearing it is pretty much impossible) the A/C compressor kick in and out while you have the HVAC on defrost - seems kinda odd to cool the air off first before heating it up, but it works quite well for reducing humidity inside the cab. Especially if you have the fresh air door on a manual switch and can close it whenever you please :D

Btw pulling that engine with the wrecker boom, cheating something fierce there! LOL

Ha yeah. I use it for everything.
Tomorrow I'm going to figure out someway to not do laundry by using the wrecker. Jess doubts me, but I got this.
