There is a plastic part in my steering that I need to replace, but I don;t know what its called.:dunno

Out of the firewall where the steering comes out ,there is a small u joint and then something (i think) is called a slip yoke. Anyways, it slids in and out of a plastic thing.

This is about all I can tell ya.....

anyone know what it's called???? Mine is worn completely out and need to be replaced.

thx Joe

That is your rag joint, I think its called. the only replacement is to get a new steering rag joint assembly. they are not cheap, and finding a good one in a JY is nearly impossible.

I found a picture of it (off some car) and it's above the rag joint. It's apparently called a slip shaft insert.

It may be plastic injected though ...

emmer, it ain't plastic injected - the plastic piece is just a dust cover or something. Inside between the two shafts is a miniature leaf spring, that usually gets flattened and falls off and that causes the slop you're experiencing.
