Scroll down a bit, they are on the drivers side but its basically the same thing, just opposite... as for splicing the wires I stripped an inch off every end to be rejoined, clamped with hose clamps and did my best to solder the wires then wrapped yards of electrical tape.
edit: The two trays are welded together, and the diagonal brace that was originally there still is, the inner fender is slightly pushed down to make it work and will actually hold the weight of a battery just sitting in the driveway without any mounting plates so I figured it would be strong enough.
More surface area IS an improvement....but getting that new-found surface area into the path of fresh, cold air....will net bigger gains and mechanical efficiency.
