I've found a 00 jetta price????

i found a 2000 jetta with 135K new timing belt and water pump at 130k said it lost power and has no compression in #3 best offer? said $3300 so far??
what do you think??

I don't think I've ever seen a "good" TDI go for less than $10K, so, if it's in good shape other than the engine problem, I'd price a new (or good used) engine and go from there. Even with a replacement engine, you may still come out ahead...

I wonder why #3 lost compression...?

she said something about a hydrolick (sp) lifter? i guess i could find out what vw shop she took it to and ask them what they found? that is if she will tell me anything?

Lost power in #3... did the timing belt break, by any chance? Interval on a 2000 with the stock timing belt components (they can be retrofitted with the 2003 100,000 mile components) is 60,000 for manual, 40,000 for auto.

#2 and #3 are the first to interfere, IIRC, when the timing belt breaks.

But, $3,000? Heck, you can get a replacement engine for another $1,500 if you look around enough, and maybe have a good 2000 Jetta for $4,500, which is a hell of a steal. :)
