brimmstone do you think a 2011 Chevy 1500 5.3 vortec will haul it up there, but other than that im stuck here in Victoria. i really do appreciate you alot, but to top it off i cant even get the lines to disconnect because there bent (oval) and the tools cant get the damn spring  im assuming they got bent when the tank almost fell on me... but other than that i don't know what to do its the only tank i have, my fuel tank selector valve is stuck on rear and to top it off the front tank is FULL of bad diesel that i got from a trip 3 years ago its DOO DOO brown some :bs ...

I think the Chevy would have a heart attack before you made it out of Victoria. I drive a 3/4 90 model chevy as a service rig and it cries when I try to tow one of my diesels. Last one it towed was my 91 CC flatbed and it about died going up the first hill.

If you can get the sending unit loose and just bring it I have tanks we can use for mock-up and then you just reinstall them into your tanks when you get back. I may even have a spare switching valve floating around somewhere in the barn but I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure your truck should have the little plastic horse shoe clips that retain them. If you can get me a pic I can probably steer you in the right direction.

I just replaced both of my lower returns (shower heads) with brass 3/8 union connections from Napa, cost of parts was $8.50. Add a brass 3/8 inside diameter sleeve to adjust overall length.

Guarntee not to have to drop the tanks for rotten hose or returns being clogged with bits of hose or worst clasping hoses.

Union slides over the line and tighten. Completed new addition is just 1/8 of an inch shorter that the dreaded shower head.

I'll post pictures and all part numbers for the quick connector clips for the fuel lines, 3/8 union, slleve and Help retainer kit(includes new gasket).

I did a little over kill with replacing the clips and doing the retainer kit, but I won't have to worry about this problem again.

Those are the pics needed. Spray them down real good with what ever type of penetrating lubricant you have on hand then leave them sit over night. Not sure what type of release tool you are using but in this situation I would be using one of the plastic ones since thy will conform to a bend. Push the lines back towards the sending unit while trying to turn them gently. Work the plastic release tool in until it stops then try to slide the line off the sending unit. If that don't work I'll try to make arrangement to come down myself with gear and we'll get them sorted out.

Those fuel lines don't look fun. I can imagine what a PITA it would be if they are full of dirt and rust to get off. I hope you get them, though.

A while back, I found some OEM shower heads on E-bay and I installed them. Ford should still carry stock because I believe they were used in all 7.3 PSD trucks. I forget the part number but I think I had a thread on it at FTE.

I personally like the metal ones as they will take a beating but if your lines are ovalled the plastic set will conform and make the job easier. I personally have a master set from snapon which has every disconnect tool made. Pricey but when I'm on a road call I have to have what works with me. Either ones really would work for what you are doing. The metal ones after you get them pushed in will guarantee a release where the plastic ones might take some wiggling. Again spray down with penetrant and then twist the fitting while pushing back towards the sending unit. Then work the disconnect tool into the fitting till it bottoms. Finally with a gentle twisting motion remove the fitting from the sending unit.

After veiwing the last few post, it appears that I have a different fuel line connection than Junior20762003 has on his truck, but for those of us that have the same or similar to mine. The following photos will hopefully help.....

I have the hoseshoe clips on mine as well. I've never seen the braided fuel lines with the quick disconnects like junior has on one of these trucks. Maybe they are aftermarket lines.
