Like it says, helper airbags are about to go in the rear. I am also going to install new leaf spring bushings at that time.

Since weight carrying won't be a problem with the bags, should I Pull the overload spring? What abut pulling it a spring from the leaf pack? Looking for a little more forgiving ride out of my drw crew cab.

If it came with the extra leaf from the factory I would leave it be, and go find a junkyard set with the spring rate you're after. No telling how they matched the springs or what rate you'd end up with by pulling a leaf. But I could be completely full of sh*t.

I think most installs I see leave the springs alone.
The purpose of add on air bags is load leveling. Not smoothing the ride.

If you want a smoother ride, you'll need something like sulastic shackles.

What about cleaning and lubricating the existing spring pack? Is it worth it?

If yer not bouncing off the overload spring , removing it won't help.
Them sulastic units will.

run both.
if you blow out your bags, you still have a redundancy.
otherwise, when the bags fail, and they will, you're screwed.

I have to agree with towcat on the notion that the bags will fail. Mine didn't burst but in less than a year one of my AirLift bags had the threaded metal insert break free of the airbag which causes it to bounce out of the bottom plate and sit cockeyed. Totally unimpressed with AirLift quality and can't wait to get some proper new rear leafs and overload springs.
