My brake system has been acting up and I have considered installing a hydroboost to get rid of the huge vacuum booster.

The benefit is that I already have a hydroboost unit, the question is: will it work? That unit I have came off of my son's 2003 Mustang Mach 1. I do not know if a unit from a 3200 pound car will have adequate stopping power for a 5700 pound truck.

Anyone with information? Thanks!

I would repair your brake system first, before you did any swapping of boosters. I can't say if the mustang unit would fit or not.

The brakes on these truck are not great, but are adequate in stock form. I would find the problem.

Mike you will need the correct mounting plate for the hydroboost from sons car to fit. Also you need the power steering pump reservoir with the 2 returns on it. A rebuilt power steering pump is around 45 to 55 bucks at Napa or Rock auto. There is a new discount code out for the rock too.
