My 85 has C6/3.54 and turns 25-2600 @ 70mph. I get around 17 mpg doing that.

Maybe there's some tranny slippage going on? When was the last time the tranny was serviced?

I have a axle code 39 and have confermed it to be open diff. 3.55's
I do have a Ford factory glove box book with the codes, I will get it later and post what was listed in 92. But I have found, anything w/o a letter inf ront of a number is an open diff. letter, then number is posi.
Oh yeah I get 15-18 MPG per tank every tank, unless Im in the mood for smoke and LOTS of dirt road driving :Sly then I might get on the low side of 14

If I were to turn the pump back alot!! And take the gear out of the rear. Ity may get better. With 6.72's what can you expect. My dually has 33 x12.5x 16.5 tires and a 4.10 factory gear with a c-6 and it get a religious 11 mpg. From the day it was new. 72 mph @ 3400 now I have no overdrive transmissions because the all suck as far as I am concerned. I love my c-6's.

this is true on the letter and # combinations. Mine shows 39 on the door.

I have since confirmed it is a limited slip. All I can say is, they put in the wrong axle or code.
However, I am thrilled.

mileage still sucks, my future steps are to;

a. remove ladder rack, see if that helps

b. new IP and injectors

Yea it is called you have an overdrive manual. Put a c- 6 in that same truck and watch the tach.

tire size plays a lot into that. I have 215/85 R16's - and I hit 2k at about 52 mph. I redline at 3300 at 83 mph. 65 is right around 2500, and 70 is 2700.

I have 4.10's as well. I get about 14 mpg empty.

You guys are killin me, t19 and 4.11 = 2600@55mph so I got used to the right lane. I made 19mpg once, I drove out to the coast at 40-50mph, average 45, I'm sure everyone behind me loved me so I need a 6 speed, 3.54s, and gearvendors to run my normal 80+ on the highway :draw
