This is what I find when I drop the tranny pan. A screwy stage one weight reduction... No filter!

Isn't that black thing with a tube that hangs down the filter?

Sorry guys was thinking plastic filter like the e4od. I'm putting a shift kit in it and new filter and fluid. What is the thing hanging down? Does help pick up the fluid?

LOL, that one is a little bit too... high tech?

I've been using the white plastic storage bins (various sizes) that people bought at Walmart and eventually donated to thrift stores where I've bought a few. Check for cracks though. I like the 6 inch deep one that slides under beds, it's long and wide. Good when changing fluid on a passenger car with less clearance. Also more rigid than the black plastic concrete mixing pans?? Neither is particularly easy or accurate to poor from into a funnel because of the edges. I think I used a taller one draining the C6 and converter- with more clearance under the truck.

real transmissions dont have filters :D

Tho from what I've seen in some ZFs, they sure as heck could use one LOL

The gears eventually crush the dirt, sand and metal pieces into finer and finer pieces causing less damage, so a filter isn't necessary.
