fuel pump ???????????

im putting on a holley red this weekend and bypass the mechanical fuel pump,i have everything but the chevy bb blockoff plate,my question is can i leave the mechanical pump on truck,or should i wait till i get the blockoff plate? thanks for the help!!

i would get the plate. there super cheap at autozone

Yes you can leave the mechanical pump on the motor but don't try to force fuel thru it with the electric pump. That will break the diaphram and flood the crankcase will diesel. Any big block chevy plate will work fine. If you can cut metal and drill it just remove the mechanical pump and make a plate using the gasket for a template. Aluminum will work fine as a plate or 1/4 inch steel...

the little town i live in has 1 auto parts store and didnt have i guess ill take a little road trip to the next town, thanks

You can also check the wrecking yards and look for a Chevy with TBI or FI and a big block and it will have a plate too.
