e40d trans wont shift

Hey everyone drivig home on the highway truck got hot between the A and the L on normal on the temp guage got to town pulled over turned her off to let cool down well now the trans wont shift into gear any gear we drive a 94 f350 idi factory turbo auto e40d 4x4 cclb whats the problem? I am not a trans guy thanks all

Look underneath to see if the shift linkage is actually moving.

yes the linkage moves could it be low on fluid like some of it burnt up

Yea smells brunt and not regestering ong the stick

The pump seal probably let go when it got hot.
Seems fairly common.
