Dumb question

My '06 is a standard, when I shift hard I get a load of black smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Usually a second to third shift

1) Is this normal?

2) will the progaurd 7 lean this out and stop it?

3) Once this is leaned out will I get better fuel milage?

4) what is the "flash I've read about???

What you sre seeing is unburnt fuel, the reson is the turbo spooled down for the shift when you let off the throttle, this is completly normal and nothing to worry about.

Any better flowing element will help to curb this but wont eliminate it, the PG7 is the best choice IMHO

When I added the PG& and torque tube to the 04.5 the milage went up 1.5-2

I am unaware of any re-flash for the 06 but there is prolly one out there.

Interesting thing- On my 01 when I went with the HTT exhaust manifold, ported and polished my smoke at shifts has almost disapered altogether, much better flow and spoolup is very quick compared to OEM. I cant believe the difference it made

Yes, when you get off the throttle to shift you lose boost pressure.

2) will the progaurd 7 lean this out and stop it?
No, not at all.

3) Once this is leaned out will I get better fuel mileage?
No, probably not a measurable amount.

4) what is the "flash I've read about???
Sorry,,,no idea.

No amount of mods will help with unburnt fuel at zero boost.

the only other thing I can add at this time are look into the tone ring mod, this will advance the timing about 2* and help the milage here is a link to that

Also you can gut the baffeling out of the inlet tube between the air filter and the charger or you can just buy the torque tube

this is the first deisel I've thought about doing anything too. I know I'm not going to chip it, cause I don't have a need for one.
Right now I'm off to find out how much the Progaurd is, I'd do it online but my "card " is maxed,

the flash youve read about is on the 03-04-and some 05's, its for white smoke at start up...nothing you need to worry about.

I'm going to have to pay off my card some I know I can do better than that.....
