Some reason I thought it changed the value.

I need to change the plug and sensor.
Hoping it's just shorted in the plug. Definitely shouldn't be getting 4+ volts in the top two wires.
Weirdly I'm not getting any CEL.

Theres supposed to be voltage in the wires.if there wasnt, the sensor wouldnt be able to send signals to the pcm making that sensor useless.

For the AIC mod, instead of looking around for a potentiometer, can I just use something like the headlight switch instead? Pull out one notch = switch on, turn to the right like dimming lights = raising RPM. This is just an idea, and I thought it might be nicer to have another Ford factory switch on the dash to do this with. I am also curious cause I live in a town of 70K people, and not one place out of about 8 I tried had or knew what a potentiometer was...lol

yes resistors are non directional but u need to put it between the grey red wire and the blue purple wire bridge the two not inline. inline will give you a slight increase but bridging the two is the way to do it.
