1998 VW Jetta TDI (Diesel) - $2200 (oakland downtown)

This car runs, but is burning oil. Mechanic says the reason is not one of the obvious ones, and the car's computer isn't functioning to diagnose the problem. It starts hard, emits a cloud of white smoke, then purrs down the road. Occasionally, it will burb another cloud of smoke, particularly when I'm slowing down, but haven't down-shifted. It also needs some suspension work, and tires. Some of the tires might be ok, but I don't want to over-sell it. Body has some dings and scratches. I have more pictures.
The interior is in good shape. Charcoal cloth. No rips or tears. Clean. No one has ever smoked in the car.
It has no radio. Better for preventing break-ins.
Mileage: 230,000
Manual transmission (5-speed)
Nothing is automatic.
It has run biodiesel for the last 6 years (our tenure), and the car has been consistently worked on by Karma Kanix in Berkeley. We have all the records.
